Metade dos artigos científicos no Brasil são escritos por mulheres.

elatório Gender in the Global Research Landscape, que destaca o Brasil como um dos exemplos de sucesso em promover a igualdade entre homens e mulheres no ambiente acadêmico.

O documento, feito pela editora Elsevier, é de 2017 e leva em conta dados de artigos científicos escritos entre 1995 e 2015.

Nesses 20 anos, as mulheres brasileiras passaram a assinar a mesma proporção de artigos científicos que os homens (50%-50%) – um crescimento considerável, já que, entre 1996 e 2000, só 38% dos artigos publicados tinham sido escritos por uma mulher.

Os níveis de participação do Brasil foram os mais altos do relatório, empatando com Portugal: em ambos os países, 49% dos artigos vinham das mãos de uma cientista mulher. Levando em consideração o tamanho das populações, o número absoluto de artigos publicados por mulheres brasileiras nessas duas décadas é massivamente superior ao de papers lançados no país europeu.

Em outros países de referência, como EUA e Reino Unido, a participação de autoras femininas fica em cerca de 40%, segundo os dados entre 2011 e 2015. Por último, vinha o Japão, onde elas assinam só 20% dos papers.

Outras facetas positivas do Brasil aparecem no relatório. Aumentou o número de inventoras brasileiras: elas registram 17% das patentes criadas desde 2000. O índice é novamente mais igualitário que nos Estados Unidos, onde 86% dos inventores são homens.

A única notícia ruim do relatório é que as mulheres permanecem sendo menos citadas que seus colegas homens em outros artigos – e isso é verdade não apenas no Brasil, mas em outros países latinos, como Chile e México.

Um importante fator de desequilíbrio entre gêneros no ambiente acadêmico, porém, não foi levado em conta pelo estudo. Trata-se do chamado de leaking pipe (basicamente, “um cano que vaza”): no início do ensino superior, as mulheres estão presentes na mesma quantidade e até são maioria entre os pesquisadores (principalmente nas áreas de humanas e biológicas).

A participação delas diminui no mestrado e cai ainda mais no doutorado. O resultado é que os índices são muito diferentes (e bem menos otimistas) para posições sêniores da academia, onde os homens chegam a dominar 87% dos cargos.

A maioria dos relatórios anuais sobre educação e gênero, como o Relatório de Monitoramento Global da Educação da Unesco mostra que, além de atrair mulheres para academia e garantir a participação delas (como autoras de artigos, por exemplo), é importante identificar os principais pontos de vazamentodo cano – ou seja, não só descobrir como incluir mulheres na academia, mas como não perdê-las.

A ONU não repassa a maior parte desses recursos aplicados, basta ver o Haiti, sendo que a situação na RCA é bem mais grave, não vou aqui entrar em detalhes para não alongar a conversa.
