Quatro princesas estão presas há cerca de 15 anos por lutarem pelos direitos das mulheres, num dos países do mundo que mais limites impõe à igualdade de género, a Arábia Saudita.

O “Era uma vez” desta história remonta a 2001, quando o falecido rei da Arábia Saudita, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, prendeu as filhas em casa, por se oporem à detenção ilegal de presos políticos em centros psiquiátricos.

Sahar tem 44 anos, Maha tem 43, Hala, 41 e Yawaher, 40. São mulheres feitas, mas obrigadas a cumprir o castigo que o pai lhes deu, mesmo após a sua morte.

A voz que deram à crença nos direitos das mulheres fez com que Abdullah deixasse de as considerar como filhas.

Em 2014, vários orgãos de comunicação do mundo conseguiram se cominicar com as irmãs sauditas, que acabaram por descrever a forma como estavam a morrer de fome e sede.

Numa troca de e-mails com o “Mufthah” – site noticioso do oriente médio -, Sahar explicou porque  ela e as suas irmãs estavam sendo ostracizadas pelo resto da família real.

“Nós, juntamente com a nossa mãe, sempre fomos vozes ativas em questões como a pobreza, direitos das mulheres e outras causas queridas aos nossos corações. Discutíamo-las regularmente com o nosso pai mas nunca lhe caiu bem, nem a ele nem aos filhos dele, Mitab e AbdelAziz, nem à sua comitiva”, contou.

Desde então, têm sido alvos do regime. Ainda que tenham sido “maltratadas a vida toda”, a situação piorou nos últimos 15 anos, quando Hala começou a trabalhar num hospital, onde descobriu que presos políticos estavam a ser despejados e drogados em centros psiquiátricos. As queixas aos superiores em nada resultaram.

“Comecouu a receber mensagens ameaçadoras para se afastar. Descobrimos que ela estava a ser drogada também. Foi raptada de casa, deixada no deserto, e despejada na prisão de Olaysha, para mulheres”, disse Sahar que, como Maha e Yawaher acabou por ser drogada também.

Rapidamente se tornaram naquilo que chamavam aos presos políticos que tentavam ajudar,  vitimas do sistema.

Num vídeo publicado no Youtube, Sahar e Yawaher lamentaram não terem água nem comida dignas, e lembraram as “responsabilidades” das organizações de direitos humanos e da comunidade internacional que, segundo as próprias, são em parte “cúmplices do rei saudita”.

A ex-mulher do rei saudita, Alanoud Alfayez, chegou a enviar uma carta ao presidente dos Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, pedindo ajuda para libertar suas filhas.

Segundo diplomatas da Arábia Saudita, as princesas estão detidas em Jidá, mas podem circular com guarda-costas.

Em chamada telefónica com o “New York Post“, em 2015, as sauditas disseram ser agredidas por vários homens, incluindo os seus meios-irmãos que continuaram a determinar o seu destino, após a morte do pai.

Um dos irmãos, Mitab, lidera a Guarda Nacional Saudita, o que complica ainda mais a situação das princesas.

Desde 2015 não há novidades sobre elas, mas o movimento “freethefour” (libertem as quatro), criado quando o caso se tornou público, continua ativo, na esperança que esta história de princesas termine com um  “felizes para sempre”.
