A média global de mulheres em cargos de diretoras ou presidentas em empresas é de 33%. No Brasil, no entanto, esse índice alcança os 47%, de acordo com o estudo International Business Report 2014 (IBR), que analisa, há 19 anos, mil empresas em 45 países, sendo 300 brasileiras, e é realizado pela consultoria Grant Thornton. Outro dado apontado pelo IBR é que apenas 7% das empresas brasileiras têm planos para contratar e promover mulheres nos próximos 12 meses. Globalmente, educação e serviços sociais são os setores que mais possuem mulheres em posição de liderança (51%). Já a mineração é apontada como o segmento que tem menos mulheres liderando (12%).

De acordo com Madeleine Blankenstein, sócia da Grant Thornton, “as empresas precisam analisar o currículo sem levar em conta se o candidato é homem ou mulher. Elas devem focar na qualificação, na capacidade de liderança e em competências como criatividade e flexibilidade”. Culturalmente, no Brasil, o sexo parece ser um problema para os setores de recursos humanos das empresas. A pesquisa mapeou o suporte que as empresas oferecem para que as mulheres progridam nas carreiras: no Brasil, somente 9% pagam salários por um período maior do que o recomendado por lei durante a licença-maternidade. Nos outros países a média é de 29%.

Mudando o panorama

De acordo com outro estudo, realizado pela consultoria McKinsey, apenas 14% das mulheres acreditam que os altos cargos compensam o que os acompanham, como ficar mais tempo fora de casa. Mas algumas empresas brasileiras, ao perceberem que estavam jogando contra a ascensão de suas funcionárias, criaram políticas para quebrar as barreiras que impediam as mulheres de chegarem ao topo. Um exemplo é a Procter & Gamble, que passou a oferecer mais flexibilidade de horário, home office e licença-maternidade de um ano. Atualmente, 50% dos cargos de liderança da empresa são ocupados por mulheres.
