A companheira de Tiradentes

Uma mulher simples tem sua vida destroçada na Inconfidência Mineira. Eugênia Joaquina da Silva foi a grande paixão de Tiradentes, com quem teve dois filhos, João Beltrão e Joaquina, embora ambos sem paternidade reconhecida. Eugênia, como Tiradentes, era uma mulher simples. Vivia da renda dos doces que fazia. Com a morte de seu companheiro, sua vida destroçou- se.

Tiradentes, juntamente com seus descendentes foi considerado infame pela coroa. Enforcado, seu corpo foi esquartejado e suas partes espalhadas por todos os caminhos de vila Rica. Sua casa salgada e parte das residências do povoado foram fechadas para sua companheira.  A sociedade conservadora, que já a discriminava por ser mãe solteira, tornou-se cruel.

Nesse cenário desolador, é obrigada a doar seus filhos, com nomes que não viessem a indicar suas origens. A respeito, a história assinala que o próprio Tiradentes, ainda na prisão, solicitou a Plácido, irmão do Padre Rolim, um dos conjurados, que entregasse seus descendentes a um orfanato, declinando a origem dos mesmos.Assim, Eugênia foi mãe enquanto pôde. Padeceu por não dispor do sustento dos filhos e por negá-los em vida. No entanto, sobreviveu a tudo. Dados do Arquivo Nacional, registram que ela faleceu aos 104 anos, a tempo de assistir à Independência do Brasil, concretização do sonho de seu amado. Ela não foi a mulher oficial de Tiradentes, mas com certeza foi aquela para quem ele confessou suas angústias, ante o assalto praticado pelo governo português às riquezas do Brasil.
