Óbidos: entre o Medieval e a Modernidade

Em dezembro, Óbidos transforma-se. Vem com as comemorações da Vila Natal, um convite para os visitantes descobrirem para além das suas muralhas seculares, um mundo repleto de fantasia e magia

Durante um mês, a partir do dia 5 de dezembro, Óbidos emerge com a Vila Natal e apresenta a seus visitantes uma programação extensa. Peças de teatro, show de marionetes, música, espetáculos de magia, lago que se transforma em pista para patinação no gelo, workshops, casa do papai Noel, entre outras atividades, encantam crianças e adultos. O difícil é escolher, entre tantas opções, o que fazer primeiro. Por lá, também é possível andar pelas ruas estreitas da cidade repletas de lojas de artesanato ou visitar a Igreja de Santiago, cuja biblioteca é aberta ao público e promove a arte sacra e a literatura ao mesmo tempo.

A Vila das Rainhas

Em 1148, D. Afonso Henriques tomou Óbidos dos árabes. Com a oferta de Óbidos como prenda de casamento de D. Dinis à sua esposa D. Isabel durante as núpcias passadas ali, a vila passou, desde então, a integrar o dote de todas as rainhas de Portugal até 1834, ano da extinção da Casa das Rainhas. Com isso, foi muito agraciada pela maioria das rainhas de Portugal, como D. Catarina, que mandou construir aquedutos e chafarizes no vilarejo. O terremoto de 1755 foi sentido com intensidade na vila, derrubando partes da muralha, assim como alguns templos e edifícios, e alterado alguns aspectos do traçado e da fachada árabe e medieval. A vila também foi palco das lutas da Guerra Peninsular, como a grande Batalha da Roliça. Mais recentemente a vila foi palco da reunião preparatória da Revolução do 25 de Abril, ficando desta forma ligada ao movimento dos capitães.

Além da Muralha

Óbidos é um município de 11.172 habitantes e ocupa 142 km2. Segundo o presidente do Conselho Municipal, Humberto da Silva Marques, a cidade vive do passado no presente, mas tem seu olhar voltado para o futuro. O engenheiro diz que o desenvolvimento tecnológico da região é prioridade de sua administração. O projeto Ecovila visa reduzir o consumo energético em 40%, o dobro exigido pela União Europeia. Com habitações sociais abastecidas por energia renovável, promove intercâmbios científicos entre universidades. A secretária de Cultura, Celeste Afonso, é a responsável por eventos como o Vila Natal, Mercado Medieval, Festival Internacional do Chocolate, Semana Internacional de Piano e o Encontro Literário, referências culturais de Óbidos. O Castelo de Óbidos

O Castelo de Óbidos, datado do século VII, hoje é a Pousada Pestana, repleta de lendas, 75 km distante de Lisboa. O castelo, misterioso, com espaço para muitas lendas e histórias para se contar, tem a Porta da Traição. História que, contada de geração a geração, é relembrada como o momento em que os mouros, construtores da muralha, resistiam estoicamente ao cerco promovido, durante 2 meses, pelo exército de D. Afonso Henriques. Nesse tempo, tinha o rei decidido que o ataque seria no dia 10 de janeiro de 1.148, quando uma jovem misteriosa, talvez moura, daí o nome que adveio, foi conduzida à tenda para comunicar-lhe de um sonho em que dava as formas do ataque ser bem sucedido pelos cristãos, que o rei não ousou desobedecer, visto por ele como um designío divino e que resultou na sonhada vitória.
