Hoje, tudo isso começa contigo!

França, início do século XX , 1ª grande guerra mundial: caos, mortes, pestes, dores, cidades destruídas, famílias separadas e o futuro se desconstruindo nas ruínas incolores de Paris. Foi nesse cenário que nasceu, no dia 19 de dezembro de 1915, Edith Giovanna Gassion, eternizada como Edith Piaf, o Pequeno Pardal francês. Seus primeiros anos de vida foram marcados pelos reflexos de uma guerra eterna, não apenas no mundo exterior, mas intrínseco. E em meio a tanto sofrimento, digno dos melhores roteiros de filmes dramáticos, Edith seguiu sua curta existência, ilhada por tragédias: faltou-lhe todas as coisas em termos gerais.

Sua mãe também foi cantora nos palcos intramuros de Paris. Cantava sob o sol, no frio invernal, ao vento com a barriga vazia e, algumas vezes, bêbada. A menina Edith, quase sempre, era obrigada a acompanhá-la, exposta a tantos riscos para sua saúde, o que lhe deixou sequelas. Cresceu franzina, miúda, cheia de problemas, com o corpo fraco, mas possuía uma força incomum na alma e uma enorme vontade de viver a vida em toda sua plenitude e com todas as suas dores e alegrias.

A pequena Edith, sentada em alguma calçada, decerto ouvia o canto cheio de lamento de sua mãe, o canto desesperado de quem sente o clamor da arte na alma, mas não encontra seu espaço; o canto lamentoso de quem precisa alimentar sua família e não consegue.

Edith passou fome e sede. Sede de água, de família, de carinho, de cuidados, de mãe e pai, de ter um lar, de poder ser criança e isso a marcou profundamente. Estava sempre doente, motivo que levou o pai a toma-la da mãe e deixa-la sob os cuidados da avó paterna em sua casa de damas, onde ela encontrou o amor de mãe através de uma das mulheres da casa, que a ela devotou todo seu amor, até o dia em que o pai a levou embora.

O pai era artista de circo e, por um tempo, Edith viveu com ele dentro de um, viajando de cidade em cidade. Com o pai começou a seguir os passos da mãe, cantando na rua desde muito jovem, para ganhar a vida, aos 14 anos.

Sua voz singular, com um timbre metálico, cortante e um vibrato característico (conhecido como vibrato caprino) chamou a atenção das pessoas que a ouviam. O pai viu nela uma maneira de ganhar a vida e ela passou a gostar daquilo, de cantar… sentiu que, através de sua voz, podia expressar e expurgar todos os sentimentos que lhe sangravam a alma. E as ruas de Paris lhe serviram de palco, assim como para sua mãe, mas, no caso de Piaf era um palco de ensaio, onde ela aprendia o ofício, sentia a resposta das pessoas, ajustava seu fraseado, suas nuances vocais, pois ainda viria o grande dia de estrear num palco de verdade. Com som, luzes e pessoas lhe ouvindo e aplaudindo.

Piaf foi descoberta, em 1935, cantando nas ruas por Louis Leplée, dono do Cabaret Les Gerny’s, para onde ele levou-a lhe dando o apelido de La Môme Piaf, que significa pequeno pardal, por conta de sua altura (ela tinha 1,41m). Depois, este apelido foi trocado por Edith Piaf.

No cabaret, muita coisa aconteceu, sua vida mudou e Piaf conheceu Marguerite Monnot, que se tornou sua grande amiga e parceira em composições como Mon Dieu, Hymne à l’amour e outras. Foi Leplée quem lhe ensinou a como se portar no palco e lhe sugeriu que usasse um vestido preto, que passou a adotar para o resto da vida em suas apresentacões.

Foi a partir de suas aparições neste cabaret que seu nome não parou mais de crescer e ganhou a França, a Europa e o mundo. Piaf fez shows em vários países e gravou muitos discos, deixando sua marca personalizada em várias músicas, cantadas até hoje em muitos lugares e por muitos artistas. Imortalizou as seguintes canções: Hymne a l’amour, La vie en rose, Je ne regrette rien, Millord, Padam Padam, Mon Dieu, L’acordéoniste, entre outras.

Participou e estrelou 10 filmes, por conta de seu enorme sucesso e usufruindo de sua influência, lançou o cantor Charles Aznavour no mercado. Ele era seu chofer, secretario e confidente e Piaf o levava para acompanha-la em suas turnês. Ele conta que Piaf era doce, falava com discrição, sem se alterar e era muito humana.

Durante a 2ª guerra mundial, La Vie En Rose, sua tão famosa composição, foi símbolo de esperança na França e nos fronts de guerra. A letra desta canção como que traduz o sonho tão desejado de uma vida feliz – cor de rosa – para quem viveu sempre em meio a tragédias e perdas. Uma destas a tornou dependente de morfina, que passou a usar depois de dois graves acidentes de carro, que lhe causavam muitas dores após as cirurgias às quais se submeteu. Tornou-se dependente também do álcool, além da morfina, chegando a se internar em clínicas para desintoxicação.

Vivia uma vida conturbada amorosamente, depois que perdeu seu grande amor, o pugilista Marcel Cerdan. Teve vários casos, com cantores, atores, sempre mais jovens que ela, mas sempre vivia na solidão.

Edith Piaf morreu com 47 anos somente, mas foram anos vividos intensamente. Conheceu a dor e o sorriso, a alegria e a tristeza, a fome e a fartura, a obscuridade e o sucesso, a pobreza e a riqueza. Usou todas as emoções e sentimentos que viveu para fazer sua música. Sua voz possuía uma emoção verdadeira e profunda. Seu canto pungente carregava todas as dores do mundo, invadindo a alma de quem a ouvia, de quem ainda a ouve, mas sempre lembrando que, apesar das trevas, existe luz, existe amor, existe algo maior.

Perdeu a mãe, a saúde, a visão, o grande amor, sua única filha, seu protetor. Foi criada em meio a mulheres da vida, dentro de uma casa de prostituição e foi levada desde cedo às ruas para ganhar a vida, mas nunca desistiu e sempre acreditou no poder da arte e do amor.

A mim não interessam seus pecados (todos os cometemos), seus vícios, sua luxúria, sua humanidade. A mim interessa a centelha do Divino que havia em sua voz. Através de seu canto acontece uma catarse. A arte cumpre seu papel!
